Consider disabled people

Businesses should think well ahead about chip and PIN accessibility for disabled people, for example how PIN pads are located and positioned in store.

The Chip and PIN Programme has consulted with many disability groups and the Disability Rights Commission (DRC) to help businesses understand how they meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act (1995).

A Retailer Route Map for Accessibility (opens in a new window) has been developed by the Chip and PIN Programme as a helpful source of information on this subject, however businesses should seek further guidance from other sources on this issue.
