In the run up to 14 February 2006, members called on their trade associations for impartial help and guidance on chip and PIN issues, as well as information about the practicalities of implementing chip and PIN technology.
Trade associations have assisted by making their members aware of the need to communicate with the small minority of their customers who were not using the PINs on their chip and PIN cards - which helped to make life even tougher for the card fraudsters.
